ADHD, ASD and General Psychiatry Diagnostic Assessments

Get a diagnostic assessment and a treatment plan that you can trust. Like the NHS, our Doctors follow the guidelines provided by the National Institutes of Healthcare Excellence (NICE) down to a tee.

Our Doctor’s are experts in delivering whole-health treatment plans, providing recommendations beyond medication.

If medication is part of your journey, we’ll work closely with you until we find the right fit for you.

  • A psychiatrist is a medically qualified doctor who specialises in diagnosing, treating, and managing mental health and neurodevelopmental conditions. Psychiatrists are trained to understand the biological, psychological, and social components of mental illness and can prescribe medication if appropriate.

At Matter of Health, our psychiatrists provide expert assessments for a wide range of mental health concerns. They create personalised treatment plans which may include:

    • Medication management

    • Referrals to therapy or psychological services

    • Ongoing mental health support and monitoring

    • Multi-disciplinary care alongside therapists or other specialists

Psychiatrists can work with both short-term and long-term mental health conditions, providing ongoing care where needed.

  • While all three professionals work in mental health, their roles and training differ:

    • Psychiatrists are medical doctors who can assess, diagnose, and prescribe medication for mental health and neurodevelopmental disorders. They are particularly helpful when symptoms are severe, complex, or when a combination of therapy and medication may be needed.

    • Psychologists are trained in psychological testing, diagnosis, and therapy but cannot prescribe medication.

    • Therapists (such as CBT or EMDR therapists) provide talk therapy to help individuals understand and manage emotional difficulties and behaviours.

At Matter of Health, our multi-disciplinary team includes psychiatrists, therapists, and other clinicians, allowing us to offer a well-rounded and collaborative approach to mental health care.

  • Our psychiatrists are experienced in assessing and treating a wide range of mental health conditions in adults, including but not limited to:

    • Depression

    • Generalised anxiety disorder (GAD) and panic disorder

    • Social anxiety

    • Bipolar disorder

    • Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

    • Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

    • Sleep disorders

    • Complex mental health presentations

    • ADHD and autism (via specialist diagnostic assessments)

We also support individuals with stress, emotional regulation difficulties, burnout, and life transitions that may be impacting their mental health.

  • No. You do not need a referral from your GP to see a psychiatrist at Matter of Health. You can self-refer and book an appointment directly with one of our specialists.

We’ll help you select the right clinician based on your concerns, preferences, and needs. If you do have existing reports, medical records, or previous assessments, you're welcome to bring these to your appointment to support the diagnostic process.
